Advanced Trustee Training – Building the Board Team

This workshop will provide trustees with a clear understanding of developing the Board into an effective team, enabling it to carry out its role.

Objectives:

  • To provide clear understanding of the role of the Chair as the manager of
    the Board team.
  • To provide techniques and resources to enable effective evaluation of the Board’s performance and effectiveness.
  • To identify ways to ensure the Board has appropriate skills, knowledge and experience.
  • To identify effective recruitment and retention of Board members.
  • To identify methods of developing trustees as individuals and as a team
    to improve the Board’s effectiveness.

Content:

  • The role of the Chair.
  • Evaluation of a Board’s effectiveness.
  • Skills audit tools and application.
  • Board Development techniques and tools.

Trainer Profile:

Alison Bunn has over 18 years of management experience in both the public and voluntary sectors.  In developing this workshop, she brings together knowledge and skills in staff development from local, regional and national level posts and from her experience of being charity Trustee. Alison is a member of the Chartered Management Institute and, through TwelvePeaks Management, offers management training for voluntary and public sector staff.
