Health and Social Care

Welcome to the Health and Social Care pages for Salford's voluntary and community groups. These pages contain useful information on representation, strategic issues and support for provider organisations.

Basis

Salford CVS facilitates Basis - The Health and Social Care Forum for Salford's Voluntary and Community Groups.

Basis’ mission is to improve the capacity for clear and representative Voluntary and Community Sector involvement in the decision–making structures within the city around Health and Social Care.

The Forum meets quarterly and the dates are lined up to fit with the Health and Wellbeing Board meetings of the SSP which Basis feeds in to. The Forum members contribute to and receive regular e-bulletins about relevant issues related to health and social care. The e-group is also the way that representatives communicate with the membership to ensure that their views are taken up and that they receive feedback from the various strategic meetings that those representatives attend. Basis has a key role in raising awareness of the good practice and the challenges within the Voluntary and Community sector in Salford and ensuring their voice is heard.

The next Basis meeting

Date: 23rd March 2012
Time: 9.30am – 12.30pm
Venue: Walkden Gateway Centre, 2 Smith Street, Walkden, Salford M28 3EZ

Local Involvement Network

The LINk in Salford is currently hosted by Unlimited Potential, although there are some changes happening Nationally and the LINk will shortly be replaced by 'Healthwatch'. The LINk's role is to encourage patients and the public to have a say in the provision on health and social care services. Les currently attends the steering group meetings to advise on how to also ecourage third sector organisations and their clients to get involved and have a say.

Please look at the LINk website for more information, or contact Les

Collaborative Working

There are more and more reasons now for the third sector to work together and collaborate. This is particularly true for Health and Social care provider organisations and more contracts are being pulled together into single contracts to cover multiple areas of delivery.

If you are thinking about working collaboratively, then CVS can help. We are in the process of starting a Health and Wellbeing Consortium for Salford, if you would like to know more please contact us. To learn about other consortia in Salford, please click here.

CVS also has access to resources to help you think about collaboration, and can help you find potential partners. NCVO produce some good guides, please click on the link to these. Other useful resources can be downloaded below, although these have not been written by Salford CVS.
