The Quality Counts Project:
Aims to help voluntary and community organisations become ready for the direct commissioning of services through the implementation of a quality assurance system.
Organisations can apply to the Quality Counts Project to receive one to one consultancy support, from the Quality Counts Development Worker, in implementing a quality assurance system.
For information about quality assurance systems and choosing the right system for your organisation please see the info sheets below.
What is quality?
Quality is about learning what an organisation is doing well and striving to do it better. It also involves investigating what an organisation needs to change in order to meet service user needs.
Why does quality matter?
As voluntary organisations work increasingly with public and private sector organisations, there is also external pressure to show that they provide quality services and manage their organisations efficiently.
What is a quality standard?
A quality standard is an agreed level of performance that an organisation or service should meet. There are a number of ready-made, off-the-shelf quality standards and frameworks that an organisation can utilise. Info sheets 1-11 below describe some of the quality standards that can be used by voluntary and community organisations. Info sheet 12 compares the quality standards listed and should be used by any organisation considering embarking upon a quality process.
