A message from Judy and Dave from Big Top Catering and the Castle Community Centre
Hi all
Just wanted to share an update of where we are at as of the 15th April
Big Top Catering and Big Top Parties
Thank you to all of you who have postponed your event and have connected with us and set provisional new dates.
Just to confirm we will hold all new dates, but fully appreciate you may need to change the date again, as none of us know as yet when larger gatherings will be permitted.
The Castle Community Centre
We are still supplying staff at our Lewis Street School with lunches. They have worked throughout the holiday period to keep the school open for ‘key workers’ children.
Last week Dave and I helped in putting together and delivering 28 family food parcels
Salford Baby Bank
This week The Castle has become a centre for a new initiative Salford Baby Bank run by Daughters of Salford of which Judy is a trustee.
This new initiative was about to launch as the current ‘lockdown’ began so we are at present running an emergency response, offering immediate mother and baby supplies to anyone referred to us.
At present there are two bases one of which is The Castle to process and deliver referrals from professionals.
Please if you have the time take a look at their website
www.salfordbabybank.co.uk or find our facebook page.
If you are in the mood to clear cupboards or the attic you will find a list of items that can be donated (they must be clean and in good working order)
Also if you are looking for something to do while on ‘lockdown’ if you knit or sew baby bank would love items such as blankets, hats and cardigans.- maybe the start of a new hobby-start with a blanket!!
Keeping busy
For all of you that use our community centre Dave and are using much of our time redecorating the place and tidying the backyard and putting in a small staff kitchen area for the upstairs offices.
Dave is juggling cashflow for The Castle and Big Top Catering and we are awaiting the arrival of the promised government help which we are hopeful will arrive soon. He is also volunteering most afternoons to help make the face visors so needed for NHS Frontline staff.
In between times like many of you at home we are sorting our outside space painting fences, sheds etc and making use of Zoom to keep in regular contact with all our family
Gradual lifting of lockdown
We will keep you posted as we look to reopen as and when we can do so.
In the meantime take care of yourselves and your families and stay safe.
Judy and Dave
