Building on the Success of Front of Pack Nutrition Labelling in the UK: A Public Consultation
The Department for Health & Social Care are having a consultation about the nutrition labelling on the front of the packaging. Since 2013, a traffic light label system has been in place, which has been popular with the food and drink industry. The consulation has been derived to make sure that this type of labelling is still helpful or whether new information or new design needs to be included or produced.
The consultation focuses on the current traffic light label, new international examples such as Chile's warning label or 'nutri-score', and also whether the nutrition labelling on the front of packaging should reflect the latest dietry advice on sugar and fibre.
