HideOut Youth Zone’s state-of-the-art £6.6m facility opened in September 2020 to provide an engaging and inspiring place for thousands of young people aged 8 – 19 (up to 25 for those with additional needs) to spend their leisure time.  Open 7-nights a week, 52-weeks a year plus school holidays, the Youth Zone’s incredible facilities include a 3G pitch, skate park, 30ft climbing wall, boxing/mixed martial arts gym, 4-court sports hall, sensory room, fitness suite, recreation area and dance, arts, music and media suites and much more. 

THE ROLE

The Buildings & Facilities Officer plays a crucial role at HideOut as they keep our members, staff and volunteers safe by managing and maintaining the Youth Zone building effectively and efficiently. They will ensure the Charity is compliant with health and safety regulations including building, equipment, services, and related contracts, as well as carrying out general maintenance and managing HideOut’s Cleaning team, ensuring that the building is upheld to the highest of standards and accessible for all young people.

THE PERSON

We are seeking candidates who:

  • -Have experience (ideally 2+ years) of managing a building and its services such as a school, college/university, sports/leisure centre or other large multi-use facility
  • -Are able to carry out general repairs and preventative work
  • -Have line-managed cleaners and supervised contractors
  • -Have a working knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation, as well as fire safety regulations and COSHH
  • -Have great people skills and can establish good professional relationships with young people and adults alike
  • -Will be inspired by the aims and mission of HideOut Youth Zone and East Manchester.
