Bury Involvement Group (BIG) in Mental Health is an independent charity run by, and for, people with personal experience of mental and emotional distress. The purpose of our charity is to build a healing and compassionate community for those in need of sanctuary and support. We support adults in the community and on the psychiatric ward in Bury, who experience a range of mental health conditions. We are excited to have secured funding allowing us to develop and deliver a new community based crisis service for adults in the area. The Bury Peer Led Crisis Service will provide a high quality, person centred, service in a non-clinical environment within the community to people experiencing mental health crisis and at risk of suicide.

As Service Lead you will be the ‘go to’ person on a day to day basis for the crisis service, ensuring its smooth and effective functioning. You will work alongside the Chief Officer to support the evaluation and development of the service. You will line manage personnel within the service, ensuring there is appropriate support to enable the team to perform their duties, whilst supporting their development. You will act as the Service’s Clinical Lead, providing advice and guidance as required. You will provide therapeutic face to face, and occasional telephone crisis support, through a mutual negotiation of the visitor’s needs, within the service.

We wish to recruit someone with personal experience of mental distress and substantial experience of working with people with mental health problems. This must include experience of working with people at risk of suicide and selfharm.

For an application pack please email: mentalhealth@buryinvolvementgroup.org and put “Service Lead” in the subject line. To reduce costs, emailed requests are preferred; however, if you do not have access to email, please phone 0751 6213 8765 to request a postal pack. If you would like to discuss the role, please phone Jordan Fahy (Chief Officer) on 0751 623 8765.
