Ambition for Ageing has produced a paper on cashless payments
The paper explores a number of options for alternatives to cash for shielding people during COVID-19, with a particular focus on older people, identifying the pros and cons for each alternative.
Options for alternatives to cash are limited due to a range of options, in particular digital exclusion and a lack of access to debit cards of bank accounts as a result of deprivation.
This review found that there is no single answer to cash alternatives, however, offering a range of options for individuals can support a large majority.
