Women & Problem Gambling

Through funding from the Tampon Tax Fund, GamCare are offering free training and support for groups and agencies on Women and Problem Gambling. GamCare is a national provider of free information, advice and support for anyone affected by problem gambling.

The aim of this course is to:

 

Build awareness of problem gambling and its hidden harm amongst organisations working with women; build relationships and partnerships to increase interventions and referrals, and to share knowledge.

 

This course will help you to understand

 

  • Who GamCare is and what it does
  • Definitions of at risk and problem gambling
  • Causes of Problem Gambling
  • Gambling related harm (self and affected others, with a focus on women in particular)
  • Indicators and warning signs
  • Brief advice as an intervention technique

 

Who should attend: Anyone working and supporting women.

 

Trainer profile

 

The GamCare North West Women’s Outreach Officer, Nadine Ashworth will deliver this course.

 

Assessment and certification

 

A certificate of attendance will be awarded to each course participant on completion of all appropriate paperwork.
