This is a joint meeting between VOCAL Forums to look at Domestic Abuse & Adverse Childhood Experiences

Domestic abuse and the wider issue of violence against women and girls has been a priority both nationally and within Salford.  A number of changes of policy, approaches and systems  have taken place or have been planned.

Domestic Abuse incidents against women, girls, men and boys notified to all agencies in Salford have increased since 2016 and is a significant link to cases opened by children’s social care.

Salford Children’s services and the Community Safety Partnership have jointly commissioned a review of systems, services and approaches around Domestic Abuse.  This review has identified a number of gaps and opportunities

Adverse Childhood Experiences are stressful or traumatic events that children & young people can be exposed to.  These range from experiences that directly harm them such as physical, verbal or sexual abuse and physical or emotional neglect; to things that affect the environment they grow up in such as divorce, separation, domestic abuse, mental health and drug or alcohol abuse

This forum will provide the opportunity to find out more about the findings of the Domestic Abuse Review in particular to look at the recommendations and to participate in the work.  It also provides the opportunity to find out more about Adverse Childhood Experiences. and what is beind done in Salford  It also provides the chance to meet up with and network with other VCSE organisations working in the City
