Event details
The Charity Commission, the regulator of charities in England and Wales, is running a workshop for faith charities based in the Greater Manchester area. The event is free to attend. Lunch will be provided, as well as tea and coffee.
The purpose of the event is:
- To give guidance to faith charities on their responsibilities under charity law; and
- To equip faith charity trustees, staff and volunteers with the skills and confidence to ensure their charities are well run, protected from abuse, and transparent.

- The Charity Commission and registering as a charity
- Trustees’ responsibilities
- Governance
- Events, speakers and literature
- Fundraising: a. safe collecting and giving; b. aid and emergency appeals
- Finances and accounting: a. annual returns and accounts; b. internal financial controls
We are dedicated to making the event informative, relevant and interesting; therefore there will be opportunities for group discussion and questions throughout the event.
Who should attend?
The event is specifically intended for trustees, managers, and others involved in faith charity governance, and those who wish to set up a faith charity. It will also be beneficial for members of the charity and others who have a concern in how their charity is being run.
