
There is still funding available and new eligibility criteria has been added to the Discretionary Grant scheme to support more businesses - including charities - in Salford.
These funds though, as per government instruction, will close during August 2020, so you need to act fast to ensure you do not miss out.

There are two grant funds available.
Business Rates Cash Grant for Small Businesses and Businesses in the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Sector
Closes Friday 28 August 2020.
The key criteria is that:
- You must have a property in Salford with a rateable value under £51,000 per annum for businesses in the retail, hospitality and leisure sector OR a property for any other sector with a rateable value of under £15,000 per annum.(Your rateable value can be checked here)
- You must be registered as liable for business rates with the local billing authority on Wednesday 11 March 2020
- Only the named business rates payer can apply

Discretionary Grant (also known as Top Up Grant) – Round 2
Opens Tuesday 4 August and closes Tuesday 18 August 2020.
The second round will be the final round of applications for this fund, so this is your last chance to apply.
For this final round Salford City Council has extended the Round 1 eligibility to include:
- A broader range of local charities as there is now no upper limit on the rateable value of the property to be claimed for.
- A large number of childcare settings can apply provided they are Ofsted registered and only occupy one property with a rateable value between £15,000 and £51,000.
- Additional businesses from the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure sector who only occupy one property can apply if their rateable value is between £51,000 and £100,000.
- More Small to Medium Enterprises from any sector who only occupy one property can apply if their rateable value is between £15,000 and £30,000.
PLUS those businesses that met the Round 1 criteria but did not apply before the deadline of Tuesday 9 June 2020.
- Multi-occupancy premises – small businesses in shared offices or other flexible workspaces without an individual business rates assessment.
- Regular Market Traders with fixed building costs.
- Bed & Breakfast which pay council tax instead of business rates

Although the closing date is set for Tuesday 18 August 2020, we may close the scheme down earlier than that, if the pot of money is spent before then.
