The final stage of the listening exercise to help develop a Race Equality Panel for Greater Manchester is now underway.
It’s crucial that the proposals to establish a Race Equality Panel are developed in partnership with people from the community, and build on the engagement that has already taken place, whilst also being in sync with the other advisory panels supported by the GMCA.
In particular, the exercise will cover:
- Whether the issues a panel should consider are still relevant and whether there are others that have now come to the fore
- Whether the draft proposals for how the panel would operate are fit for purpose (e.g. its terms of reference, mission, aims, objectives, role of chair, role of members)
- Suggestions for the chair and the panel members
People will be able to have their say in three main ways:
- By completing this survey, which will take about 20 minutes (please email engagement@greatermanchester-ca.gov.uk if you need help completing it)
- If you are part of an organisation or group, and you would like GMCA to attend one of your meetings, please email engagement@greatermanchester-ca.gov.uk and tell them bit about your group, and the date and time it meets
- By joining a group discussion – email engagement@greatermanchester-ca.gov.uk to register your interest
Please note that this engagement exercise will finish on 16th August.
GMCA will then use all the views they have received to finalise proposals for the Race Equality Panel. These will then be submitted to the Mayor and Greater Manchester’s lead for equalities for approval, before they start on recruitment for the panel.
