The Equalities Board of Ambition for Ageing need help to finish the Respected and Connected banner before October
Artist Eva Shlunke has been creating a banner celebrating the diversity of the Equalities Board membership.
The banner was started during one sewing session before lockdown but there are still some gaps which need filling. 10-15 small cloth pieces are needed to fill the gaps.
Important information for making cloth patches:
Sizes
up to 10cm x 10cm for an individual contribution
up to 15cm x 15cm for a group contribution
Materials
Make your patches on cloth which can be stitched neatly onto the banner. You can use a mixture of materials and methods (embroidery or superglue, buttons, studs, ribbons, lace, different fabrics) but we recommend using cloth (e.g. not paper) as the main material so that the patches lie flat and won't be damaged when the banner is rolled up.
Your messages could be about:
- The special roles of elders in society
- Pride and unity within the aging community
- Inclusion and participation in the wider community
- Keeping each other safe and taking care of each other during challenging times (such as the Covid-19 pandemic)
- Celebrating the good work of community groups who look out for our elders
- Why we love our elders
- Fun and enjoyment in age
