GM BAME Network, supported by GMCVO, has launched the second stage of the emergency grants programme to support small GM BAME led VCSE organisations and communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Stage two, a competitive small grants programme awarding grants of £1000-£3000 to organisations with an income of under £30,000, and is now live. Stage two will close to applications on Tuesday 13th October noon.
The first stage, a rolling micro-grants programme, is still open and awards grants of £50-£1000 (for organisations with an income of under £10,000) on an ongoing basis between 27th July and 31st October 2020. Decisions are made within 3 weeks.
The grants are funded by Comic Relief and the National Emergency Fund in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Atiha Chaudry, Greater Manchester BAME Network said:
“We are delighted to be successful in our funding bid to Comic Relief and excited to be working to get much needed funding to BAME community organisations. These communities have been disproportionately impacted by this pandemic and we have been extremely worried whether they will survive this storm. We have targeted our funding to small BAME community organisations with low levels of income because these organisations make up a large proportion of our sector, have insufficient resources to sustain themselves and yet provide the most effective support deep into our communities.”
The grants will fund new activities and services as well as the additional costs of adapting existing services due to COVID-19. The grants will also help counter the loss of fundraising income directly caused by the pandemic.
