Indigo Gender Service (Indigo) is a new organisation, set up to deliver the first Greater Manchester Trans Health Service. Indigo is being delivered by a deep rooted/well established collaborative partnership between gtd healthcare and LGBT Foundation, two organisations with shared values and ethos.

We are looking for a Non-Executive Director Chair to lead and shape the service. The successful candidate will work closely with the Indigo Board, the clinical and non-clinical teams working across primary care, the voluntary, charity and social enterprise sectors, and specialist gender services.

The Non-Executive Director Chair will be required to commit at least 1 day per week and will have key responsibilities such as the following:

  • Assisting in setting Indigo’s strategic aims.
  • Ensure that the services delivered by Indigo are always aligned with the Indigo Statements of Principle.
  • Support the Indigo management team in achieving across its different remits, including managing risk, promoting safety and quality, and delivering on performance, whilst complying with the key terms of the contract to deliver the Greater Manchester Trans Health Service.
  • Build and maintain close relationships with Indigo’s external stakeholders.
  • Always act as an ambassador for Indigo and its two-constituent partner organisations.
  • Prepare for & attend Indigo Board meetings & engage with staff across the Indigo footprint.
  • Work with the Board leadership team to ensure Indigo operates within its financial, legal and statutory requirements.

As this role focuses on leading a service specifically designed for trans and non-binary communities, we believe lived experience of being trans and/or non-binary will be hugely valuable to the role.
