Daniel Barnett's HR Policies 2020, a recently published suite of 20 employment policies, includes a policy on employee homeworking.
This can be used for either temporary or permanent homeworking, so includes provisions that are not relevant in the current situation – so the above policy from Brodies, tailored specifically for a short-term arrangement, is more suitable for current use. But it is worth being aware of Daniel's more extensive policy, in case the organisation or some of its workers want to continue homeworking after it is no longer required.
Includes:
- What is homeworking?
- Is your role suitable for homeworking?
- How do I apply for homeworking?
- What should I include in my application?
- When we receive your request
- Setting up the homeworking
- Managing the homeworking
- Expenses
- Health and safety
- Security, confidentiality and data protection
- Accessing your home
- What if you move house?
- Ending the homeworking arrangement
Because of the coronavirus crisis Daniel has very kindly made this policy widely available, and a Word version is available here. This can be used free of charge within your own organisation. However, solicitors and others using it this Word version for their clients will need to purchase the full suite of policies, which includes a licence for such use (https://www.policies2020.com).
Sandy has adapted the homeworking policy to create a separate version for volunteers, again intended for both temporary and permanent arrangements, which is available here.
You can use this free of charge for your own organisation, and to create volunteer homeworking policies free of charge for other organisations.
But if you are planning to charge in any way for this policy's use, please contact Sandy first (sandy@sandy-a.co.uk).
