Volunteerism is a powerful force and an important part of the fabric of society.

Globally, it remains an important vehicle for shaping and advancing development. Its potential to contribute to the achievement of sustainable development that delivers to all is, however, yet to be realized.

As countries and regions grapple with enormous challenges, one thing is clear: no single stakeholder, entity or sector can address these challenges alone. Now more than ever, partnerships are vitally important.

Projects run by Foundation 92 and EFL Trust have been developed to improve young people’s skills and employability.

The opportunities vary catering for young people between the ages 16 – 25, and they start in January 2022.

A film highlighting the work of homelessness charity Emmaus Salford, created by a pair of volunteers during in lockdown, is in the running for the national Charity Film Awards.

Creatives Isy and Leigh Anderson from Bury used some of their time during the pandemic to volunteer and create short films for Emmaus Salford. The charity is now appealing for public votes to help one of the films, An Introduction to Emmaus Salford, make the final shortlist for the Charity Film Awards.

Rachel Richardson, Community Director at Emmaus Salford, said:


The University of Salford is taking part in the New Scientist Live event between 12 - 15 March.

This fantastic festival gives the public at large a chance to engage with cutting edge research being undertaken across the Higher Education Sector. Salford’s exhibition will incorporate the theme ‘Local to Global’, we will use Virtual Reality Headsets to showcase the STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts and Mathematics) research being undertaken here at Salford.


A series of public hearings will take place during the examination of the Salford Local Plan: Development Management Policies and Designations.

The hearings will be conducted by the Planning Inspector and the main purpose of the hearing sessions is for the Planning Inspector to investigate the evidence supporting the plan further by asking questions of the participants and hearing their contributions on the issues that are critical to the soundness and legal compliance of the plan.

  • Women - career changer, return to work mums, unemployed, graduates

The UK Commission on Bereavement wants everyone to have the opportunity to share their experience with them.

This includes those who have English as a second language, young people* and people who may find completing the form online difficult

They especially want to have experiences from wider Black Minority and South Asian communities and men


Dennis Baldwin from Salford is a multiple suicide attempt survivor. He is bringing together other suicide attempt survivors in a peer to peer creative arts support group that is running at START, a leading Mental Health Charity in Salford.
