Nuffield Foundation's research is working to understand and address the social implications of COVID-19.
They have awarded £2 million for research that will help identify how to mitigate the social impacts of the pandemic, particularly for those who are worst affected. Their partner organisations, the Nuffield Council on Bioethics, the Ada Lovelace Institute, and the Nuffield Family Justice Observatory are also responding to the pandemic.
The latest research findings include:
- The percentage of Brits who got news about the pandemic at least once a day per week has dropped from 79% in mid-April to 61% in late June. Read more
- Levels of depression and anxiety higher amongst those from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds during lockdown. Read more
- One-in-five children from a low-income household have spent lockdown in an overcrowded home. Read more
- A quarter of people have reported their relationships with colleagues and co-workers have worsened over lockdown. Read more
- 57% of the UK public think the UK government response to COVID-19 has been worse than most other developed countries. Read more
- "I feel guilty for needing to access such assistance" - The COVID realities team spoke to 15 parents and carers living on a low income. Read more
