Oldham Foodbank is a life-changing service that helps local people in crisis. No one in our community should have to face going hungry and we are part of a nationwide network of food banks working to combat poverty and hunger. Our organisation is seeded by the Trussell Trust.

We’re currently looking for a Foodbank Manager to oversee the smooth running of Oldham Foodbank on a 12 month fixed-term contract.

The Role

The role of the Foodbank Manager is to oversee each element of the Oldham Foodbank while respecting the Christian ethos followed by the Parish of Hollinwood St Margaret and St Chad, Limeside. The Key parts to the growth and maintenance of the Foodbank are distribution of food parcels, operating a warehouse, donations, communications, signposting, recruiting, training, and supervising a volunteer team.

The Foodbank Manager must have concern for the Foodbank’s operational efficiency and standards in accordance with the Trussell Trust franchise model. In partnership with the Trustees, you will guide the development of the Foodbank, including its material resources, financial assets, reputation, partnership, and volunteer body.

About You

To join us as a Foodbank Manager, you will need:

  • Experience of working for, or volunteering in, an organisation that deploys volunteers
  • The ability to manage and monitor the development of a project
  • Empathy and an understanding of the challenges of supporting and managing volunteers
  • Knowledge and understanding of the principles of Safeguarding in relation to the management of volunteers and provision of services to our clients
  • The ability to lead, motivate, train and support volunteers
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good computer skills including regular use of email, internet, word processing and spreadsheets
  • A high level of drive and commitment to the values of the Foodbank
