About the role: PTMWA is the employing organisation but the role will be managed on an operational level by Barnardo’s project manager.
For the past eight years, The Pankhurst Trust (Incorporating Manchester Women’s Aid) has been working in a highly successful partnership with Barnardo’s and 3 other voluntary sector agencies in the delivery of Big Manchester project in the north of the city. The project offers an innovative approach to working with families with children aged 5-11 who have been affected by domestic violence and abuse, substance misuse and poor mental health.
The role will involve intensive holistic work with parents and their primary school aged children and where the family has been impacted by domestic violence and abuse. You will work with children in 1:1 settings and support them through a range of interventions including using creative therapeutic play techniques. Alongside this you would also work collaboratively with parents – assessing their needs and working with them to look for solutions.
