Detailed information
You can only take bagged general waste that you can’t fit in your household bin such as nappies, plastic packaging, polystyrene and other household waste that can’t be recycled.
Please do not bring any recycling, clothing or electrical items to the recycling centre, these cannot be recycled at this current time and if mixed in with general waste, can damage the machines used to process the waste, potentially resulting in fires, delays, and costly repairs. For further information on other types of waste and recycling please read the frequently asked questions below.
You will need to take proof of address with you such as a council tax, gas or electricity bill.
Social distancing measures will be in place to protect you. Only one person will be allowed out of their vehicle to dispose of their waste. Staff will be unable to assist with unloading and no pedestrian access will be permitted.
Only a limited number of vehicles will be allowed on site at any one time with a one in, one out policy. For each parking bay, there will be a container to place the bag of general waste in. There will be no other recycling containers available. You should leave the site as quickly as possible to allow the next car in. Our teams will be working hard to keep wait times down to a minimum but please be patient and expect to have to wait to dispose of your waste.
Highways officers will patrol the roads surrounding the recycling centres to guide the public. Traffic management such as cones, traffic signs, diversions and one way systems will be implemented to help the flow of traffic. If the queue becomes too long, you may be turned away and asked to return at a later time.
You will only be able to visit on certain dates dependent on whether your vehicle has an odd or even number plate. The rota for this system is below.
Please limit your journeys and only travel if it is absolutely necessary.
Bin collections by the council for general waste continue as normal.
Number plate traffic system rota
In order to control the number of vehicles accessing the centres at any one time, a traffic control system will be introduced based on odd and even number plates. It will work on a four-week rota to limit the amount of traffic visiting the centres and limit the potential for staff and the public to be exposed to the virus. Please note the rota may be subject to change so please check this web page before visiting one of the centres.
Number plates with the last number ending with odd numbers - one, three, five, seven and nine - will be allowed on the days shown below, while number plates with the last number ending with even numbers - zero, two, four, six and eight - will be allowed on the others:
