Safeguarding Adults Awareness Week runs from 16 to 22 November this year.
This is the second national Safeguarding Awareness Week led by the Ann Craft Trust. Safeguarding is everyone's business, this awareness week is the perfect opportunity to help educate yourself and others to understand abuse, spot the signs and report concerns.
Safeguarding support from Salford CVS
We frequently run Safeguarding Adults training for VCSE organisations, our next session is fully booked, but you can check our training feed for the latest courses. We also have useful safeguarding resources for voluntary organisations, community groups and social enterprises, including a model Adult Safeguarding Policy on our website here.
Check out our blog from Deb our Safeguarding Development Worker, it tasks a look at safeguarding during the first wave of the pandemic and lockdown.
In this vlog, Deb also explains the support Salford CVS can offer to your organisation.
We also have a simple video explainer of what safeguarding is, who may be 'at risk' and how to report concerns. Watch the video via our YouTube channel.
Safeguarding training and events
Salford Safeguarding Adults Board is running Mental Capacity Act training (18 and 19 November). This training is aimed at practitioners who are likely to be carrying out safeguarding enquiries in cases where there are complex MCA issues, or who will be supervising / mentoring those who do so. it will also be beneficial for people in health and care roles who hold responsibility for assessing capacity where there are additional challenges and supporting people to make decisions.
Age UK Salford will be joined by Emma Potts from Greater Manchester Police for a virtual session; 'Let's talk about Scams and Fraud Prevention' on 18 November 2020. You can download a flyer here. They are also running a range of activities during the week - find out more here.
Salford Civic Centre will be lit up purple to mark the start of Safeguarding Adults Week.
