163 delegates from local voluntary, community, social enterprise and public sector organisations attended our annual Salford VCSE conference on 12th June at the AJ Bell Stadium. The theme of the conference was tackling poverty, highlighting the role of the VCSE sector historically and in the current climate. Attendees had the opportunity to influence the VCSE Strategy for Salford, and to get involved in Salford Social Value Alliance’s 10% Better Campaign.
The event saw the launch of the Salford State of the VCSE Sector 2017 report and the Salford Volunteering Strategy 2017-2020. Workshops explored key poverty themes and the role of small but vital local charities in tackling poverty was highlighted by Lloyds Bank Foundation. Salford City Mayor Paul Dennett introduced Salford's Anti-Poverty strategy and the event culminated with delegates pledging what they will do to tackle poverty.
