In the absence of face to face training for the foreseeable future the Salford Safeguarding Partnership has started to develop a virtual training programme.

In addition to e-learning courses, 7-minute briefings, Learning from Practice Reviews and Learning Events they are now offering webinars, spotlight briefings, practitioner forums and videocasts. We will continue to review the possibility of offering face to face training in line with Government advice and local needs.

Care and Permanency Planning for Looked After Children in Salford	Thursday 27 August 2pm – 3pm	Thursday 20^th August	By the end of the training participant’s will be able to: Understand the Care Planning process for Looked After Children in Salford Understand their role in attending care planning meetings for Looked After Children Understand the Local Authority’s responsibilities as corporate parent towards Looked After Children Understand the key elements of care and permanency planning for children; including the pre-placement planning meeting, care planning meeting and permanency planning meeting Understand the different routes to securing permanence Understand the role of the Independent Reviewing Officer Understand their role in contributing to the care planning process
Introduction to Domestic Abuse	Wednesday 9 and Friday 11 September 9.30am – 12.30pm	Friday 21^st August	This training will be delivered over 2 half-day sessions and participants MUST be available to attend BOTH sessions Course Objectives: Participants will be able to: Be aware of the definition of Domestic Abuse, including understanding the different forms of domestic abuse Understand the harm caused to victims and children Raise awareness of the indicators of different types of abuse Understand the role of selective enquiry where domestic abuse is suspected and the importance of doing this safely Understand different models used to explain domestic abuse, including the cycle of abuse, the Power and Control Wheel and Biderman Understand factors that may increase risk Be aware of the DASH assessment tool and MARAC process Have an understanding of safety planning Be aware of support services available for children, victims and perpetrators
Safeguarding Updates and Developments (Refresher)	Thursday 24 September 9.30am – 12 noon	Friday 4 September	Course Objectives: To enable participants to: Update on the latest changes in child protection legislation, procedure and practice (interim changes during Covid19 and future plans) Understand the challenges in safeguarding children and plan how services can meet them · Reflect on messages from Serious Case Reviews · Work more effectively with children and young people · Be aware of the role of Salford Safeguarding Children Partnership

Places are not guaranteed this will depend on the number of applications received and to ensure multi-agency representation.

Following the closing date for nominations, you will be contacted, and you will be informed if you have been successful in obtaining a place.

The training will be delivered via Microsoft Teams and you will receive an email with a link to the online session.

If you are unable to attend the course for any reason, we ask that you notify the team as soon as possible and ideally at least 5 working days before. Your agency may be charged an administration fee if you book onto the course and fail to attend.
