Volunteers’ Week at Salford CVS

Volunteers with their gifts in our office and outside their homes.

Volunteers’ week takes place from 1st -7th June every year and is always special to us at Salford CVS.

This year we wanted to focus on saying a massive THANK YOU to our fantastic volunteers that have made such a difference to the lives of Salford residents in the last 12 months.

Whether it be delivering food parcels for schools to children that were self-isolating, delivering breakfast parcels to families living in food poverty, helping out at the vaccine sites, delivering shopping and prescriptions, having wellbeing conversations, dog walking, being a ‘Trusted Voice’ in the community or simply just doing whatever has been needed at that moment in time, our volunteers have been there to help.

Saying thank you

So to say thank you, the team at Salford CVS have been out and about in Salford delivering certificates, mugs and chocolates to our volunteers throughout Volunteers’ week. It was a great opportunity to meet some of our volunteers and say a heartfelt ‘thank you’ in person. A number of volunteers were also able to come into the Salford CVs office to pick up their certificates and gifts during Volunteer Week.

Benefits of volunteering

It’s well known that volunteering can be as beneficial to the volunteer as it is to the person or group that they are supporting and many of our volunteers have shared their stories with us to demonstrate this. You can read them here: Volunteering Stories. Not only is volunteering rewarding but it’s also a great way of learning new skills, meeting new people and gaining work experience.

If you would like to volunteer in Salford you can see our current opportunities here.
