This half day workshop, provided by Outside the Box, will be held online on Tuesday 28 September 2021.

The session will introduce the science of ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) and provide a basic understanding of trauma informed practice. This is a great opportunity intended for frontline and managerial practitioners to introduce a shared understanding and language relating to ACEs and trauma informed practice.  

VSNW are hosting a Social Value event within the fringe of the Conservative Party Conference on 5th October from 6.15pm.

Throughout September and October, our member, mental health charity START will be running a project called ‘Chalk to Talk.’ The project aims to work together with BAME organisations and communities to take over spaces with words of hope, support, and inspiration alongside imagery and cultural pattern in a tapestry of language. The Freedom Project is a safe place that supports people to enhance their employability through gaining new skills, training, and work experience. Participants are also supported by addressing accommodation and money worries.

A Greater Manchester 'Words of Hope 2021' poetry evening will be held this evening (23rd of September) at 6.30pm. The evening is part of Greater Manchester's month of Hope, raising awareness of suicide prevention and sharing messages of hope.

Charities are invited to take part in this survey to improve the understanding of the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on fraud affecting charities in the UK.

Sharing your experience via the survey should take no more than five minutes and the results will be launched during Charity Fraud Awareness Week, 18 – 22 October 2021.

International Day of Older Persons is on Friday 1st October
This day of celebration is an opportunity to acknowledge and appreciate the extraordinary contributions and achievements of older people.

This year, to mark Older People's Day, Age-Friendly Salford has organised digital and in-person events, which both involve fun activities like seed-bombing.

Stoptober is a campaign that challenges smokers to quit for the 28-days of October. It has been found that people who can go 28 days smoke-free, are five times more likely to quit for good.

You can encourage and support the people you work with the take part by sharing these communications resources across your networks or by signposting them to the Stoptober website or the 28-day challenge app.

The Cabinet Office has published a communications toolkit which includes key messages regarding vaccination and young people and the latest national COVID-19 vaccine surveillance report findings.

The toolkit also features links to social media posts and videos in a range of languages that you can share with your own networks.

Specialist grants of up to £15,000 have been launched this week for Salford-based VCSE organisations to receive connections from the Wellbeing Matters programme.

Applications are welcomed from grassroots community groups based in a Greater Manchester borough, you need to be able to explain what positive things your activity will provide for those in your community. Funded activity must be Covid safe.

Small grants are available for our members from the Wellbeing Fund and the Volunteers' Expenses Fund.

Both funds close on Monday 4 October, for a decision by 19 November.

Our vacancy for a Community Engagement and Development Worker on the Answer Cancer programme closes tomorrow (24 September) at 12noon.
