What we do at Salford CVS

Salford Community and Voluntary Services (Salford CVS) is the sector’s local infrastructure organisation providing specialist information, advice, guidance and development support for voluntary organisations, community groups, the community work of faith groups and social enterprises and community interest companies. All of the organisations we support will have a wider accountability to the community and the public via a board of trustees or a membership and all profits will be reinvested in their social purpose.

Our Board of Trustees includes representation from a cross section of local groups elected annually from our membership. The Board makes sure that all of our activities keep focused on our mission to ‘help grow a thriving community and voluntary sector in Salford’.

If you are part of a community or voluntary group, or if you would like to start one, we can help you to:

•Take your ideas and make them real
•Find the money you need to make your plans work
•Improve and strengthen what you do by undertaking a group ‘health check’
•Be more involved and receive up to date information by becoming a Salford CVS member
•Help you to find volunteers who share your ideals and will support you with your work
•Develop long term plans to make your group stronger
•Win tenders and gain contracts to deliver services
•Keep informed of new ideas and opportunities and changes in legislation that may affect you
•Access specialist training and learning opportunities
•Get guidance on child protection and safeguarding
•Get CRB checks done
•Have opportunities to meet people from other groups, share experiences and knowledge and to network with them
•Have your views and needs represented to Salford City Council and other statutory organisations

Volunteer Centre Salford connects people to volunteering opportunities and recognises the contribution made by volunteers in Salford through recognition schemes. The Centre also supports organisations that involve volunteers and facilitates the Salford Volunteering Steering Group.
