24 hours to make a difference

24 Hours to Make a Difference is an employer supported volunteering scheme that enables employees of Salford City Council to take up to 24 hours paid time off per year to volunteer.

The scheme is in partnership with Salford CVS, the city-wide infrastructure organisation for the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector.

It is a great opportunity to enhance your personal and professional development whilst making a difference to a local organisation.

Full details of the scheme, including how to apply for the time off can be found on Your Zone.

There are two ways Salford City Council employees can use this time:

As part of a longer-term volunteering role

Volunteering Portal

If you would like to volunteer on an ongoing basis, you can use your 24 hours paid time off per year towards this.

You can find and register for volunteering opportunities through Salford CVS’ Volunteering Portal.

Here you can browse volunteer opportunities and find roles that fit your interests using the simple search function. You can then register if there are any roles that you would like to apply for. You can then register if there are any roles that you would like to apply for.

If you need any help using the portal or have any questions you can contact claire.roberts@salfordcvs.co.uk

For short-term volunteering opportunities

The Skill Givers project aims to make the most of volunteer time offered by employer supported volunteering schemes for everyone involved.

We do this by working with local voluntary and community groups, sports clubs, charities and social enterprises who support their community to get active, across Manchester and Salford, to identify where they really need support.

These requests are then developed into short-term opportunities, often one day, for individual employee volunteers to complete tasks and projects that will provide the chance to share skills, learn new ones and really make a lasting difference to a group.

You can find and register for volunteering opportunities on the Skill Givers site.
