On Thursday 14th September 2023, Salford CVS hosted an event at The Lowry Theatre, Salford Quays, to showcase and highlight the impact of the Third Sector Fund on Salford’s VCSE sector, their communities, and their health. The event was well attended, with an excellent turnout of almost 100 colleagues, beneficiaries, and supporters from across the NHS, ICP, GM, and Salford’s VCSE groups of all sizes.

We are delighted to announce that Special Educational Needs Families Support Group (SENFSG) have received the King’s Award for Voluntary Service. This is the highest award a local voluntary group can receive in the UK and is equivalent to an MBE.

With recent data showing 806,500 of residents in Greater Manchester face some form of digital exclusion, a new resource has been produced by GMCA in partnership with local organisations and community groups, identifying where residents can go to find support in accessing devices, connectivity to get online, and digital skills training.

Salford CVS is working in partnership with the Family Hubs in Salford.

Family Hubs are Early Help centres, offering universal support for children, young people and families 0-19 (up to 25 with SEND). We want local groups to be included and part of the Hubs. Grants of up to £500 or £750 for Salford-based VCSE organisations and Hate Crime Reporting Centres to deliver projects to raise awareness of hate crime, how to report hate crime and the support available for victims during February 2024. Hate Crime has profound negative impacts for victims and communities. Hate crimes cause tensions to arise in communities and increases the possibility of
further hate crimes.

Does your group or organisation own or lease a community venue in Salford? Are you interested in installing a publicly-available defibrillator on an external wall? Salford CVS is looking to support organisations to apply to the DHSC’s Community Automated External Defibrillator Fund, by covering the cost of 1) the £750 match funding required by the DHSC, 2) installing the AED and cabinet, and 3) AED training for staff and/or volunteers.

Grants of up to £2,000 are available for Greater Manchester-based VCSE organisations undertaking projects to support improvements in early cancer diagnosis amongst at-risk groups of later-stage detection and diagnosis. You don’t need to be cancer experts and we’ll give you the support you need to help your community. Apply by 26th November 2023.

We are looking for CYP Volunteers who will attend the group work sessions and follow up contact with the families when required. The group sessions consist of 12-week workshop to work with the young people and families to undertake individual diagnostic assessments with the children and young people who are using abusive behaviours in their intimate relationships or towards their parents/carers.

• Providing regular social interaction and support to members of the RAF community via telephone contact
• Checking on a beneficiaries welfare and alerting them to available support if needed
• Relaying any concerns to their Connections Coordinator
• Regularly submitting an activity log summarising their interactions so we can make sure everyone is receiving the help they need

Greater Together Manchester is urgently recruiting for regular driving volunteers to pick up and drop off food at our Social super market. Our project provides low cost food and goods to those experiencing financial hardship, and you could be an integral part of our mission. 

Our Food project worker would accompany you for the trip and support with coordinating the delivery. 

The Salford4Good campaign has been set up to raise funds for local frontline charities and community groups so that they in turn can carry on supporting Salford residents, whether it's by providing food, helping keep homes warm, looking after children, giving advice and guidance, and so on.
