Salford Family HubsBroughton Hub

Salford CVS is working in partnership with the new Family Hubs in Salford. Family Hubs are Early Help centres based in your local community, offering universal support and services for children, young people and families aged 0-19 (and up to 25 if the young person has SEND). Services offered include antenatal, child’s health, early help, parenting support, baby socials and more.

Along with four Family Hubs in different neighbourhoods, we also have six Youth Centres, which offer a wide range of services including youth clubs, drop in services, project work, youth forums, and more.

We want the Family Hubs to have a real presence and involvement from their local community groups and services. We are in the process of contacting and meeting local voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations to talk with them about engaging and working with the Family Hubs. There are various benefits of working with the Family Hubs, including but not limited to room hire space, advertising opportunities, sharing information about your group with Early Help Teams, and more.  We are also supporting the development of a volunteering programme within the family hubs

If you are part of a community or voluntary organisation that works with children, young people or families and would like to hear more about the Family Hubs, please contact Byshee Harkavy or Noah Mellor.

The Wishing Tree Project Wishing Tree Project

The Wishing Tree Project is part of the Family Hub work done by Salford CVS in partnership with the Lowry and The Salford Family Hub Partnership to consult with and engage children, young people and families.  The Seeds of Change box is an art installation developed by The Lowry Young Parents Group and a local artist.

The box toured from August 22 to March 23. People were invited to write on a tag, what they wish to access, share and change for families in Salford, then they are posted into the box. There were  384 wishes posted into the box which was displayed in 13 different venues. A tree has been built with all the wishes displayed and is exhibited at The Lowry.  It is  open to the public in the ‘Lookout Space’ at the Lowry, Salford Quays

Salford Young People’s Seldom Heard

Salford CVS, on behalf of the VOCAL Children, Young People & Families Forum (who came up with the original idea) have been facilitating conversations with ‘Seldom Heard’ young people and City Leaders for a number of years now. The purpose of the event is to enable young people, who seldom have a voice in the city and little means of accessing the main city leaders, to meet with, and discuss with them their issues and what they would like to see to address them.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the last event was held in 2019.  As a result of conversations at the 2019 event there was a commitment for further investment into the Youth Wellbeing Fund and Salford CVS ensured that young people were involved in the decision making panel as a result of them saying “they would like to have more practical input in the development of new projects”.

The principle behind the event is that it is young people led, so following a number of engagement sessions, the young people selected the theme for the 2022 event as Poverty and Inclusion.
