100 days of back to back activity in Little Hulton and Walkden

Galloping in to 2026 the year of the fire horse and the 100th birthday of Salford City are well underway!

Trotting from Pendleton to Little Hulton you’re sure to see many activities to celebrate this momentous occasion. Specifically in Little Hulton and Walkden we are celebrating in a big way with a programme of 100 days of back-to-back activities to promote local business, share stories and experiences, and to offer new opportunities for work, up-skilling and education.

Ideas boxes

This programme comes from 450 suggestions from residents of what they would like to see in 2026, which they posted into ‘ideas boxes’ at community spaces, in shops, and into a box carried around by the Gruffalo between December and January.

These suggestions boiled down to 300 unique ideas ranging from a Reading Challenge for Children, African, Morris, and Street Dance, 100 People Meeting Up Wearing Red, Defibrillator Training, 20 Year Anniversary Celebrations of City of Praise at Hallelujah House, 150 Year Celebrations of St. Paul’s Peel Church, and Local History Quiz Night’s - just to top it all off!

Over 50 people then came together to pick the best of these ideas and to put it into a programme of 100 days which will be shared 25 days at a time with something guaranteed to satisfy your creative interest, help you brush up on your local history knowledge, give back through volunteering, meet new people with shared experience, and learn more about what is on in the
local area.

Get involved

We’d love to see you get involved in the way which works for you, whether you’ve got a couple of hours or a couple of minutes - we want you to put your mark on this period of celebration.

You can get involved by:

  • Attending one of the activities that piques your interest - just turn up unless otherwise stated!
  • Nominating yourself or someone you love to be our mascot-bearer by emailing eskslfrd@gmail.com or sharing your interest at one of the community spaces on our map, carrying it between one event and the next to continue the chain and bring joy
  • Volunteering your time to support with one or more of the events or the overall planning by emailing eskslfrd@gmail.com or sharing your interest at one of the community spaces on our map

This is your call to action to not miss out and to take what you need from the next hundred days between March 15th and June 22nd and to give what you can! And if nothing else, if something doesn’t catch your eye in the first 25 days, think of those around you and what might interest them - you never know what will be coming in the next 25 and how much sharing something you think someone will like will mean to that person. Let’s continue the story of Little Hulton and Walkden together, shaping it in the way we see our great great Grandchildren will enjoy, learning from the past, making the most of what we have available to us
in the present, and charting a better future.
