Relaunch of Salford4Good Cost of Living funding appeal as Mayor of Salford makes £2,375 donation

Salford CVS has relaunched its Salford4Good Cost of Living appeal, asking individuals, businesses and organisations to help local charities and community groups support residents who are struggling to make ends meet.

The relaunch has been boosted by a £2,375 donation from Paul Dennett, elected Mayor of the City of Salford.

Money raised through the appeal goes to frontline charities and community organisations across Salford. They provide food, help families keep their homes warm, support childcare, and offer welfare rights, debt advice and guidance to the residents who need it most. Salford CVS takes no fee, so every pound donated goes to local groups. Gift Aid can add a further 25% at no extra cost to the donor.

Salford4Good is a trusted route for individuals, organisations and businesses to give funds and support local good causes. Since it launched, it has raised money for the city’s voluntary sector, including more than £146,000 for the Emergency Response Fund during the COVID-19 pandemic. Local supporters have also run fundraising events for the Cost of Living appeal, including an art auction and a charity gig.

Paul Dennett, Salford City Mayor commented:

“When I committed to donating the difference between my salary and that of an MP to local good causes, I wanted that money to make a real difference in Salford. I'm therefore pleased to donate £2,375 to Salford4Good, which does fantastic work supporting community groups and charities that are helping residents through difficult times.

Salford4Good provides a trusted way for people and organisations to support local causes, with every pound going directly to frontline groups making a difference in our neighbourhoods. From helping families facing financial hardship to supporting advice services and community projects, the impact of these organisations is felt right across our city.

I have long been a supporter of Salford's voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise sector, and I'm proud that this donation will help strengthen the incredible work being carried out by local organisations every day. I would encourage anyone who is able to consider supporting the appeal, as even a small donation can have a meaningful impact on local people and communities.”

Alison Page, Chief Executive at Salford CVS commented:

“Salford CVS are pleased to have received a donation from Paul Dennett, elected Mayor of the City of Salford, of £2,375, towards our recently relaunched ‘cost of living’ fundraising appeal. Salford is home to many charitable groups and organisations that support local people, providing a wide range of information, advice and practical help to those residents who need it most”

With demand still high, the appeal gives local people and businesses a simple way to make a difference close to home. Donations of any size are welcome. We know times are tough, but your donation, no matter how big or small, will help us make a real difference.
