Theme: Complex Safeguarding: Sexual and Criminal Exploitation
According to new figures for Unseen’s Helpline reveals that reports of criminal exploitation increasing by 42% and reports of sexual exploitation up to 25% during the pandemic.
The past few years have seen rapidly increasing awareness of the issues of child sexual and criminal exploitation, however significant confusion remains as to what it is, the different forms in which it can manifest and who it affects. Serious case reviews also highlight that Child Sexual Exploitation can be particularly hard for professionals to recognise and respond to.
This VOCAL Forum will provide the opportunity to find out what Complex Safeguarding is, what the different forms in which it can manifest and who it affects. We will also have a speaker from the Achieving Change Together Team which is a model developed in Greater Manchester for working with young people who are at risk of exploitation.
