Safeguarding Spotlight on Neurodiversity training

The aim of the session is to consider the implications/nuances required when safeguarding children and young people, and adults who are neurodiverse.

 

Target Audience 

Staff and volunteers working in the VCSE sector with children and/or adults who are neurodiverse.

 

Learning Objectives:

  • Increased awareness of what makes people with neurodiversity vulnerable to abuse, including exploitation.
  • Increased awareness of the potential barriers to seeking or engaging with safeguarding support for people with neurodiversity.
  • Increased awareness of the impact of abuse.
  • Increased awareness of the impact of missed opportunities to safeguard.
  • Increased understanding of the correlation between a trauma responsive and a neurodiverse informed approach.
