Meet and Eat

Categories of Work: Befriending, Community services and/or facilities, Health and well-being, Lunch clubs, Social activities
Who do you work with?: Low income (people on), Men, Older people, Unemployed people, Veterans/ Ex service people, Volunteers, Women
Organisation description: It is a social project which aims to bring together people of all ages and backgrounds to meet and eat on a Friday lunchtime. There has been a rise in the number of hospital admissions for the older members of the community being admitted to hospital for malnutrition and dehydration and this project aims to try and combat this going forward. We will be serving a two course hot meal for which no charge is enforced but donations are welcomed to give the project sustainability. There has been a pilot run previously which has been very well attended by mainly the older members of the community who have found this group to be lifeline in preventing loneliness and isolation especially over the winter months when many activity groups close down for several months, helping them to improve their own health and well being by spending time with volunteers of all age ranges.
