Organisation description: The Paddock Community Group began as a group of volunteers who wanted to contribute to the maintenance of the paddock area behind Holy Angels Church on Moorfield Rd in Salford, perhaps develop new skills in gardening, make a positive contribution to our local community and enjoy a social gathering. After 18 months, and having taken on other areas around the church to ensure the site is looked after, and with plans to grow more produce and expand use of the paddock, we formed The Paddock Community Group which meets every two weeks to chat and to complete various gardening tasks; we have held several events to raise awareness of the paddock (a green haven in the middle of a lot of housing), raised money for charity and raised awareness in our local community about environmental issues. We intend to grow more produce to distribute locally which may include some bee hives for honey in the not too distant future. Anyone is welcome to join us, you do not need to be a church goer; you will find new friends, learn new skills and eat a fair bit of cake!
