What is the group for?
Attendees will be able to discuss and work collaboratively on safeguarding challenges that they are experiencing, sharing learning and good practice. They will also be able to share positive achievements relating to safeguarding that other organisations could learn from. We can also use the meetings to discuss particular topics in more depth e.g. particular type of abuse, supporting staff wellbeing etc.
Salford CVS will use this space as a way of sharing information and updates from Salford Safer Children’s Partnership and Adult Safeguarding Board.
Why do we need this?
Designated Safeguarding Leads in small organisations may not have anyone within their own organisation that they can discuss challenges with and, as such, can find the role quite solitary. They may not have anyone to debrief with following safeguarding incidents, which can have a detrimental impact on their wellbeing. It is also good to get an external perspective on your practice, as colleagues from outside your organisation can bring a fresh perspective.
Who is it aimed at?
This group is aimed at Designated Safeguarding Leads from VCSE organisations. In some organisations, this may be the Chief Executive. It is not aimed at operational staff or volunteers.
Who will be involved from Salford CVS?
The Safeguarding Development Worker will take responsibility for facilitating the meetings, ensuring that attendees can set the agenda. They will also organise the venue and refreshments (if meeting in-person); send out invitations and ensure that a record of attendance and meeting notes are taken.
How often will it meet, and for how long?
Quarterly, for 1.5 hours
Where will it meet?
Meetings are online
