New Government Funding for Young Services

A significant new funding package was announced by the Prime Minister, aimed at reconnecting young people with their communities and expanding youth services across England. Almost £88 million in new funding is available to support youth clubs, schools, and community organisations in providing enriching, real-world experiences for young people. VCSE groups and organisations working with young people are eligible to apply for some of these funding streams.

Key funding opportunities for the VCSE sector:

  • Better Youth Spaces Programme (£30.5 million): Capital funding to upgrade youth club infrastructure in areas with high child poverty, including Salford. VCSE groups running youth spaces are eligible for support to upgrade facilities, such as small refurbishments and equipment. Funding is now open for applications, with deadlines for refurbishment applications on 31st August and for equipment applications on 21st September.
