Salford CVS has brought together information from local organisations, community groups and partners to mark Black History Month 2026. Throughout October, we'll be sharing local events, and resources, that celebrate Black history, heritage and culture across Salford and Greater Manchester. We'll be shining a spotlight on organisations and communities making a difference locally.

Theme: Honouring Our Communities
The theme for Black History Month UK 2026 is Honouring Our Communities. It highlights the people who help shape, support and strengthen communities every day, including volunteers, teachers, carers and community leaders whose contributions often go unrecognised.
The theme also recognises the important role community has played throughout Black history, from early Black communities in Britain to the Windrush generation and beyond. It celebrates the individuals, organisations and networks that continue to create opportunities, build connections and support others.
By focusing on these everyday contributions, Honouring Our Communities encourages greater recognition of the stories, experiences and achievements that have helped shape Black communities across the UK.
