Live Well is a Greater Manchester initiative, but delivering it effectively means ensuring that each locality receives the support and approach that best meets its needs. To enable genuine collaboration, steering groups, local leads, and representatives from across the City of Salford have come together at a local level to shape and guide the work.
The Salford Locality Leads are:
- Melissa Caslake, Interim Chief Executive, Salford City Council
- Alison Page, Chief Executive, Salford CVS
- Gillian Mclaughlan, Director of Public Health and Wellbeing

The Innovation Unit
The Innovation Unit has been working across communities to explore a central question: How do we create meaningful, system-wide change that enables communities to thrive in truly inspiring ways?
In Salford, their work has contributed to significant improvements in residents’ lives through initiatives such as the Mental Health Neighbourhood Team (formerly Living Well), Elevate Salford, Good Homes in Good Places, and Community-Led Regeneration. These projects have shaped what the Innovation Unit brings to Live Well, grounded in their expertise in:
• Community-led innovation
• Design
• Learning
• Practice development
• Programme delivery
• Scaling successful approaches
• System Change
