Description:

We are looking for volunteer ESOL teachers and volunteers to support trips and activities in the local area.
Volunteering as an ESOL teacher is a great opportunity for individuals to gain experience and develop new skills while making a difference to peoples’ lives. By volunteering with Talk English you will gain experience of teaching English, working as part of a team and working with learners from all over the world. You will also develop your communication, presentation and organisational skills.

You will be asked to commit to one, two hour ESOL class a week in the Salford area. These will take place in local schools and community centres across the region. You will be compensated for travel costs and provided with all the resources you need to deliver engaging ESOL sessions.

You will take part in a Talk English initial 2 day training course to introduce you to the project and to prepare you to use the teaching materials effectively in your classes. If you'd like to learn more about teaching English you will have the opportunity to study towards a Level 3 Cert Ed or the Level 5 Trinity CertTESOL.

What is the duration of the volunteering opportunity?: Long term
Skills and qualifications that may be needed or developed:

To be a volunteer ESOL teacher you will need to be able to demonstrate excellent skills in spoken and written English at Level 2 (GCSE equivalent) and good computer skills at Level 1. You will also need to be able to commit to volunteering for one morning or afternoon a week, Monday to Friday for a minimum of 30 weeks, as well as attending one of the training courses starting in August.
