Volunteer Opportunities
Do you enjoy driving and meeting people? Do you want to do something which can help save lives? Do you want to become part of an amazing team of Volunteers? Can you spare some days per month (ideally back to back) in the daytime (0800 - 1700)?
We are a local charity which provides a free courier service to the NHS. We transport Blood, Plasma, Platelets, Donor Breast Milk, Samples, Medication and many other medical products to Hospitals, Hospices and other NHS locations, including the North West Air Ambulance within Greater Manchester and beyond. Predominantly we complete these tasks with a fleet of motorbikes, but occasionally we have tasks which are too big to carry on a bike or are requested during daytime hours when bikes are less available and at that point we look to our amazing drivers.
The charity has its own fleet of fully fuelled and expensed vehicles so there should be no cost to the individual for completing the works.
We ask that if volunteering a driver puts themselves down for an average period of 3 days, During that period you are still able to get on with your day to day life and routines, we just ask that you are with or within close proximity of the fleet vehicle so that should a call come in you can be at the required location within 40 minutes of receiving a call. Please note that once on task it may take a couple of hours to complete.
For all this you will be receive training to provide the service, including Good Delivery and Manufacturing Practices. You will become part of an amazing team of volunteers providing a necessary and often life saving service to the people of Greater Manchester. We also hold regular meetings with our Volunteers to keep everybody together as one happy family and up to date on what we are doing and achieving.
