Volunteer Opportunities
Salford CVS are developing a network of volunteers in partnership with Salford Family Hubs and Early Help Service to provide additional support to the Family Hubs and enhance the services offered to local Parents Carers and Children. Family Hub Welcome Volunteers are supported by the VCSE and Volunteer Engagement Workers (Family Hubs) at Salford CVS.
Purpose of the Role
Family Hub Welcome Volunteers offer a friendly point of contact for Parents Carers and Children visiting the Family Hubs and help to create a welcoming environment within hubs.
The Family Hub Welcome Volunteering role may include the following:
• Greet and welcome people visiting the Family Hub
• Helping to create a welcoming environment within hubs
• Provide directions and information to visitors
• Organising welcome area, play areas and equipment
• Talking and listening to Parents and Carers
• Display information on noticeboards
• Support Early Help Admin Team

You don’t need any formal qualifications, just a friendly smile and a caring, confident approach.
As this role involves welcoming and supporting parents, carers, and families, you’ll need to feel fairly comfortable communicating in English during everyday conversations. This simply means being able to chat with visitors, listen to what they’re telling you, and understand the information they share. English doesn’t need to be your first language, we just ask that you feel confident using it so you can help families effectively. If you speak additional languages, that’s a great asset. Many of the families who visit the hub use more than one language and your multilingual skills can help make their experience even more welcoming and accessible.
This role is perfect if you’re someone who:
- Loves greeting people and helping them feel at home
- Feels confident talking with a wide range of visitors, including parents and families
- Stays calm and reassuring, especially when supporting new parents
- Listens with patience and understanding
