Role Overview:
The Head of Events & Projects holds a pivotal voluntary leadership role within Salford Pride, overseeing the strategic planning, coordination, and delivery of all Pride branded events and projects, including the flagship event, The Pink Picnic. This role is responsible for managing and supporting the Events Team volunteers, ensuring events are inclusive, engaging, and aligned with Salford Pride’s mission. The Head of Events & Projects works closely with the Committee Lead and Board of Trustees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning, development, and delivery of Salford Pride’s events and projects, including regular, one-off, and flagship events.
- Manage, support, and motivate the Events Team volunteers, fostering a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
- Develop innovative event concepts and present proposals to the Committee Lead and Board of Trustees for approval.
- Ensure all events and projects comply with health, safety, and risk management standards, collaborating closely with the Committee Lead, Board of Trustees, and Chair.
- Oversee coordination between the Events Team and other departments, including Marketing, Fundraising, and Communications, to maximise engagement and attendance.
- Act as the secondary point of contact for sponsors and partners related to events, assisting with sponsorship acquisition and relationship management.
- Monitor budgets and resource allocation for events and projects, ensuring efficient and effective use of funds.
- Provide regular updates and reports to the Committee Lead and Board of Trustees on event planning progress, challenges, and outcomes.
- Champion Salford Pride’s values of diversity, equity, and inclusion across all events and projects.
- Facilitate post-event reviews and feedback sessions to drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure that all major events, sponsorship agreements, and project plans receive final sign-off from the Board of Trustees before delivery.

- Experience in event management, project leadership, or volunteer coordination, preferably within a non-profit or community-focused setting.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage volunteers.
- Excellent organisational, planning, and multitasking abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage diverse stakeholders, partners, and volunteers.
- Solid understanding of risk management and health and safety regulations related to event delivery.
- Experience in sponsorship development and partnership management would be useful.
- Passion for promoting inclusivity, community empowerment, and fundraising within the LGBTQ+ sector.
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic volunteer-led environment and work collaboratively with the Committee Lead, Board, and wider team
