Volunteer Opportunities
Night Stop offers a safe place for the night for a young person between the ages of 16-25 who is in crisis, taking referrals from the pathways within the 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester. It is a night-by-night, same day emergency service. While the young person stays with a host, Night Stop Greater Manchester will support them to find a longer-term solution. For most of the young people we work with are experiencing homelessness for the first time and Night Stop is an essential service, as usually their only other option may be rough sleeping. With full training and ongoing support, you could make a difference to a young person in crisis by offering a safe place to stay in the spare room of your home. We have a thorough referral process, which enables us to ensure Night Stop is the best service for young people. We also have a thorough vetting, assessment and training process for all volunteers. As well as opening a spare room for the night, you will provide a warm welcome, a hot evening meal and breakfast, washing facilities and a friendly, listening ear. You will attend an initial training programme prior to undertaking the role and attend periodic training during the course of the role. You will attend training and support sessions where appropriate. Adhere to the terms of Night Stop Manchester policies, contribute positively to the continuous development of the service/team. Observe clear professional boundaries in our relations with the young people we work with. You can choose your own flexible rota and host as often or as little as you prefer.
