On Sunday 25th October 2026, The Wagon Train Finale will take over Seedley Park for a spectacular celebration marking the finale of Salford's centenary year. Inspired by Salford's industry, the Salford Sioux, the city's talent today and its bright future, this large-scale outdoor event will bring local people together for an evening to remember, and you could be part of it.
Walk the Plank are looking for young people and adults of all ages to be part of it. Organisers are looking for:
- Audience Greeters: Welcoming people to the event.
- Torchbearers: You will be part of a torchlit procession with other community groups from across Salford.
- Geolight Carriers: You will be in the River of Light parade carrying colour-changing Geolights which are remotely controlled.
- Energy of Youth (16+): Be part of a flashmob; you may be carrying props or you may be moving/dancing. This opportunity is aimed at young people who enjoy dancing, performing or movement.
- Northern Soul Dancers: We're also looking for 10 Northern Soul dancers to represent Salford's heritage and its place in the Northern Soul dance scene. Some Northern Soul dancing experience is needed for this role.
- Performers need to be available on Sunday 25th October 2026 as well as the evening of Friday 23rd October 2026 and/or Saturday 24th October 2026 to rehearse. Torchbearers and audience greeters just need to be available on the night.
Please fill in this form to be a part of the event.
