Thursday 10th September is World Suicide Prevention Day, a global awareness day that encourages individuals, communities and organisations to come together to promote suicide prevention and support those who may be struggling.
This year, Samaritans is sharing an important message: if you're worried about someone, taking the time to reach out and show you care can make a real difference.
You do not need to be an expert to support someone. Small acts of kindness, checking in, listening without judgement, or simply letting someone know they are not alone can help someone through a difficult moment.
As part of this year's campaign, Samaritans has worked with people who have lived experience of suicidal thoughts to share practical guidance on recognising when someone may need support and the steps anyone can take to help.
You can find out more about the campaign and access further information on the Samaritans World Suicide Prevention Day webpage.
Support is available
If you are struggling or need someone to talk to, Samaritans is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Call 116 123 free from any phone, or visit the Samaritans website for further support.
