Volunteer Opportunities

As a Being There Respite Sitter you will be required to go to the client's home address and sit with the client that needs to be minded, while their carer leaves the house for a couple of hours. The carer may need to go shopping, attend their own appointments or indeed get some much needed social and 'me' time, which is so very difficult to get when being someone else's full-time carer.
Everybody's circumstances are different, but during your time respite sitting you may want to chat and get to know the client over a cuppa tea, read a book or watch a bit of telly while the client is sleeping/resting. Whatever you decide to do, you will be making a HUGE difference to the lives of carers throughout Salford
It is a very flexible programme. Once you have completed our 1 day training programme and DBS checks, you can chose the days and hours that suit you, as long as it is between Monday-Fridays, 9am-4pm.
This grid shows when you can volunteer for this opportunity.

We are looking for volunteers from all walks of life who can demonstrate maturity, sympathy and empathy.
* You may be retired or work part time, so you would like to use your spare time to help people in the community.
* You may have previously been a carer or received care support yourself, so you understand some of the challenges that carers have to deal with and so would like to give something back to the community.
* You may be a student studying a course in the caring profession such as Medicine, Social Work, Health and Social Care or Counselling so you are looking to enhance your employability by getting some real life work experience.
