Public safety
- Avoid the Dovestone area surrounding the moorland and areas affected by smoke from the wildfire.
- Follow emergency service advice.
- If there is visible smoke stay indoors, keep your doors and windows closed. Once the smoke has moved away: consider opening doors and windows to allow properties to cool down, being mindful of changing conditions: just because the smoke may have moved away, it could just be a brief respite and could return.
- It is important to heed ongoing public advice about ventilating your property.
- If driving in smoky areas keep your windows wound up, air vents closed and switch off air conditioning systems to prevent drawing in outside air
- Do not undertake activities which increase wildfire risk.
- Don't call 999 to report visible smoke already associated with the incident, unless there is immediate danger.
